Purchase

I bought my distributor cap and rotor from Roebuck Mazda (www.roebuckmazda.com). About $40 including shipping.

My 1994 Probe GT had just exactly 70K on 31st May 1999 when I changed this part. (Leftover work from the 60K service.)

Installation

First you will need to remove the front piece of the air intake system, at the front of the engine. You undo the visible bolts and unscrew the ring clamp that connects it to the airbox. This pulls out easily.

I have just removed the front air intake piece.
Close up of the cap. Clearance is tight to the bolts.
The new cap and rotor.
Unplug the spark plug wires- careful not to damage them by pulling or bending the wire itself.

I unbolted the stock air box and pulled up up and away from the cap so I could get my wrench in there. Be sure to mark the spark plug wires so you get them back on in the right order. (The cap also has the wire numbers on it.)

Once the bolts are off, the cap just falls off.

Pic of the old rotor. Once you have the cap off, just pull the old rotor off, noting its position for putting the new one on..

Press on the new rotor, put the cap and wires on, and replace the intake stuff and you are done!
